I'll overwhelm 'serious combatant' Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-round match which will be shown live on Netflix.

Briton Joshua stated he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "overpower" his opponent as the pair came face-to-face to promote the upcoming bout.

Former twice unified title holder Joshua faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, on paper, a massive disparity - at Miami's venue on 19 December.

Boxer's Mentality

"I plan to damage his features and hurt his body. I aim to demonstrate I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35, declared.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I intend to seriously aim to cause him pain. That's my intention."

Civil Interaction

Despite these statements, a composed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Paul - usually recognized for his theatrics - shared friendly words and maintained decorum with each other.

Jake Paul rather targeted former Joshua's rival the Cameroonian fighter and called him "a joke" after the Cameroonian declined a fight offer.

Targeting Fury

Joshua, in the meantime, criticized UK opponent Tyson Fury - and rejected a large bet 'Tyson Fury' states he will put on a Paul victory.

"Jake Paul is superior to Fury - he showed up," the boxer commented.

"I acknowledge that."

Legitimate Opponent

In spite of declaring he will hurt Jake Paul, Joshua declined to comment unfavorably about his opponent's pugilistic talent.

"Jake is a credible opponent," he stated.

Paul's Background

Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has mostly fought MMA fighters or faded names since entering professional boxing.

He lost to British fighter Tommy Fury in last year.

Financial Success

Still, the relative newcomer is still one of boxing's biggest financial successes, regularly earning substantial paydays.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28 year old anticipated a stoppage in rounds four or five and stated he would stop the long-awaited Fury-Joshua bout, which is reportedly in the works for 2026.

"It will be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul stated.

Physical Disparity

As the two fighters engaged in the traditional confrontation, with their height and weight contrast clearly visible, it drove home just how surprising this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the fight is actually going ahead.
